I have reluctantly decided to sell one of my blogs, Handpicked Software. I haven’t had the time or inclination to post to it regularly and I want to turn it over to someone while it still has some legs. Handpicked Software includes over 200 posts dating back to 2004. Traffic is modest, but has been increasing every month, in spite of the fact that I’ve posted only twice this year. And, even though page views average only a couple hundred a day, the site makes about $25 to $100 a month.

I recently redesigned one of my other blogs (Futurosity) and, while I like the design, I don’t think it quite fits what I have in mind for the site. I put a lot of work into the design, which would work for a blog that wanted a more magazine-like theme (it includes a custom home page and is designed for multiple authors), but it will also require some work to make it ready for the public. Before I make the investment, I’d like to gauge the interest.

I had several requests to release the previous Upstart Blogger design as a WordPress theme. The design was never intended to be released publicly because there’s too much hard code in the theme files. Personally, it’s not one of my favorite designs so I’m not interested in investing the time necessary to clean up the code. Even if you’re not interested in using it, though, it might be worth taking a look to see how I’ve done some things (included MooTools, for example). I’m going to make the theme available for download, BUT…

The winners of the Sandbox Designs Competition have been announced. First Place kudos go to Arpit Jacob for SandPress, a polished theme with a winning name. Moo-Point, by venerable web designer Will Wilkins of IAMWW (who also created a mod of Upstart Blogger Minim, IAMWW w2), snagged Second Place. Rounding out the winners was Sunaryo
Hadi’s Third Place entry, Prima.
