One of the oldest motivational tricks in the book is to publicly display your plans since it encourages you to stick to them. So, with that in mind, I proudly present the 2008 Upstart Blogger plan.
- Double the unique visitors. Upstart Blogger has a daily unique visitor count of around 30,000 per month. 60,000 unique visitors seems a reasonable target that is both achievable and worthwhile. 30,000 is a good figure but 60,000 will project Upstart Blogger into a different league.
- Push the RSS subscriber count through the 1000 barrier. Currently hovering at around 450 this should be achievable in line with doubling the unique visitor count.
- Launch a range of free ebook and email courses to help bloggers in all aspects of their blogging.
- Push higher through the Technorati rankings. Today, Upstart Blogger ranks at 344. Pretty good and already part of the Technorati Top 500 but being part of the Top 250 or even Top 100 would be great. The air is a little thin at the top of the Technorati ladder and the climb will be tricky but the work will be worth it.
- Earn a Google page rank of 7. This will be hard work but with Upstart Blogger already having a page rank of 6 this is the only target I can reach for since an 8 would be too ambitious for one year.
- Give away a high quality wordpress theme every month starting with the current Upstart Blogger design, entitled Underscore, in January.
- And finally, start the Upstart Blogger Blog Network. A blog network for new and aspiring bloggers. I’m taking names already so leave a comment with a link to your blog if you want to take part.
I am the admin of a sports blogging site which runs the WPMU software. I currently support 40 writers. We are using some of your themes and I direct traffic here when my writers have questions. I would be interested in joining such a network. May I have the details. Real Sports Bloggers is very selective about which social networks it is a part of.
