One of the most well liked and respected Wordpress designers is selling up and moving on. wpdesigner.com, run by the instantly likable and oddly named Small Potato, is up for sale with a starting bid of $15,000 and a buy it now price of $65,000.
It may seem a lot of money but in the right hands it could be a gold mine. In reality $65,000 is a bargain if the current level of traffic can be maintained and developed. And, because the buying public are still skeptical of high value blog auctions, it will probably sell for considerably less unless a fully motivated seller appears.
Currently it is extremely under monetized with a monthly income of under $900. It’s capable of 10 times that amount.
Yes, you did read that correctly. I think it could make $9,000 a month without much effort, probably more. Even at the buy it now price it wouldn’t be hard to clear a profit after 6 months.
Ignore the usual suspects who are apparently envious of Small Potato’s success.
With my recent offer of venture capital for bloggers this is another blog auction that is of particular interest to me. I’d like to fund the purchase of wpdesigner.com, either in full or in part, in return for a share of the profits. If you are interested in talking seriously about this then please contact me direct on contact@upstartblogger.com with your proposal and business plan.

its unfortunate that i’ve got so much going on, I’d love to take on a challenge like this. i never considered trying to turn this hobby of mine into a career until i started reading this blog. it may be summer before I have any time to truly dig my heels into another project. follow the math: wife in the military + full time job + my own military job + 2 Year Old Hellian = blogging between 12am and 6am. :/
i haven’t touched my horn in nearly 2 months, and that was to show I could still hit the high ‘F’ if i needed to.
Nah I dont see how someone could make the money back after buying it. They would have to make twice what they paid for before it would be a ‘good buy’…
I think you’re right on the money - with a great team behind it, the site could be even more awesome.
I wish you all the luck if you end up buying this potential gold-mine.
Can you forward me the email you received?
