Attack of the clones

Apr 08  08

In two recent posts I mentioned blog cloning. Cloning the design of your blog and building more blogs, in different niches, to build your own blog portfolio. It’s a great way to build traffic and one which I am starting to employ today with the purchase of a handful of new domain names, all launching as blogs under the Upstart Blogger brand in the coming weeks. Some of these blogs will be multi author and I am actively seeking contributors. If any of the following descriptions peak your interest then let me know, either by commenting at the end of this post or via email on contact@upstartblogger.com.

Infinite Critique .com. Infinite Critique has been in beta for a few weeks now and has already attracted a steady and growing stream of traffic. Billed as an alternative news and reviews blog, Infinite Critique, has infinite scope. Anyone can apply to be a writer and find a vehicle for their thoughts. As it grows, it’s strength will be the diversity of it’s contributors and it’s content.

Musicians Mentor .com. Musicians Mentor is a project I’ve been planning for a long time. As a musician I find the amount of scams aimed at my fellow instrumentalists astonishing. Musicians Mentor will offer candid advice to all musicians, especially those who want to work the web.

Podcast Selector .com. Podcast Selector will sort the wheat from the chaff in the overcrowded podcast arena. A look at the iTunes podcast chart shows that mainstream media, especially radio, has a stranglehold on the podcast market. Podcast Selector will show it’s readers, and listeners, that podcasting is a lot more than just time shifted radio.

Passionate Blogs .com. Passionate Blogs has a simple aim. To feature blogs that are written by those with a passion for their topic. When Pro Blogging became popular a few years ago the heart of the blogosphere, those bloggers who pushed their heart and soul into their blogs, found themselves at the back of the publicity queue. Passionate Blogs will push them back to the front, where they belong.

Musicians Who Blog .com. Musicians Who Blog is inspired by Designers Who Blog and will be a showcase for, as the title suggests, musicians who blog. Only musicians who blog personally and directly will be featured. There are too many fake blogs out there, run by faceless record label executives desperately trying to increase sales. Musicians Who Blog will help real music lovers and fans connect with the musicians behind the music.

PassionateBlogs.com sounds like a great idea. I’ve just started a blog I’ve titled ‘The Blog of a Freelance Web Designer’ and I’m planning to focus soley on Web Design and The Internet - with a bit of info about my career and my life thrown in. Obviously my passion in life is web design - I live and breathe it. PassionateBlogs.com is definitely something I’d love to be a part of.
