Become a truly decadent blogger with this amazing piece of kit

The astonishing work of art you see above is a hand made fully functional computer keyboard, turned out by Richard Nagy and proudly displayed on his website Data Mancer. Each keyboard is custom made for it’s owner and every one is absolutely unique. The one in the photograph is called Von Slatt, others have similarly evocative names like The Aviator and The Sojourner.
In a crowded blogosphere it can be hard to find exciting things to write about. Creative inspiration is essential if you are to continue to create creative material. Any equipment that makes you feel inspired is a worthwhile investment.
My office would look wonderful with one of these beauties connected to my 24″ iMac workhorse. The juxtaposition of the Apple display and that chunk of brass would be a joy to behold. The price isn’t for the faint hearted and is estimated at between $800 and $1000. Even so I’m very tempted. Very tempted indeed.
I can feel my wallet loosening as I type.
wow immense, i wonder if it’s crafted from an old typewriter?
i could imagine the folks at bibliodyssey using something like this (:
My goodness me, that’s one very spiffy-looking keyboard. But I doubt it would go with the style of the other computer equipment – it might look out of place.
Just the sort of thing Captain Nemo would have had in his office Im sure.
Also saw something similar to this on CIS New York a few weeks ago, linked up to a time machine. An old style typewriter keyboard hooked up to a time machine/compmuter and LCD.
Very neat in it’s own way, but way to fancy for me to be frank. It’s just so pretentious and anyway, unless iSkin have a silicon keyboard cover for it I ain’t interested. :0)
But good stuff though… I’ll keep with my new minimal Apple Bluetooth keyboard thanks very much, now this DOES look cool next to my 24inch iMac. One bit of kit that has actually made a world of difference to my working day, not to mention the amount of space it saves. Worth a look, also works on PC…

I’ve seen something similar before (it would appear “steampunk” has become something of a subculture). Personally, I’d rather spend $800 – $1000 on a actual antique.
That isn’t to say I’m unimpressed. Product design has become so stale – it’s nice to know there are still real artisans out there.
