The Upstart Blogger income report for September 2008 is here. Last month I breached the 100,000 page view mark thanks to a very healthy 50,054 unique visitors. The exact figure was 100,398. So close to being a much less spectacular 99,999 page views but a milestone is a milestone, and 100,000 page views in one month is something I’m very happy about, and very grateful for.
Thank you to everyone who has helped to make this possible.
Now down to the money. I set a target for September of $4,500. I was achingly close at $4,412. The new target for October is now $5,000, which I feel very confident about.
Other traffic details include a yo-yoing Technorati rank, dropping over 700 places to 816 and then rising back to position 112. It changes daily, probably hourly, and frankly, I’m starting to lose interest in Technorati generally. If it continues to be as accurate as an abacus with woodworm I’ll drop the information from the monthly report and stop using the service entirely.
Similarly my Alexa rank graph looks like a roller coaster. I find this a little trange since my unique views have steadily risen every month. Alexa, like Technorati, remains a system of metrics that I’m sure no one truly understands.
As always, money talks. As long as the income continues to rise I know everything is moving in the right direction.
Onwards and upwards, here’s to the big $5,000 in October.

Seems your a “statsaholic”. The only stat that matters is your income, the rest really don’t. Especially alexa which is worthless.

So close. You’ll make the 5k in October. I can feel it. And my hunches are usually right.
I am not high up in Technorati, so I don’t know what it’s like to have frequent adjustments like that, but I am guessing that the numbers of incoming links at that level fluctuate frequently, and I think that links drop off after a certain amount of time, so perhaps you had a quick loss of linkage.
I’m not exactly sure how that whole service works, but I don’t put much weight on it unless it starts to feed a lot of traffic to my site, which it currently does not.

Thanks everyone. Wesley I totally agree with you about Alexa. But I’m getting to feel the same way about Technorati. After all, if I’m making an increasing amount each month why should I care what Technorati thinks?
