My morning email routine was dominated today by an email from a celebrity. Being my usual cynical self I eyed the email with great suspicion, particularly as the celebrity in question has a slightly salubrious past. She is the sort of celebrity who used to be happy to court the tabloid press and celebrity game show circuit but now sees herself as a more serious author, albeit one who is happy to acknowledge and capitalize on her past notoriety.
Out of the public spotlight for a few years now this celebrity contacted me with regard to Infinite Critique, the multi author news and reviews blog that is drawing ever nearer to a full launch. To cut a long story short she feels that she could add something unique to the Infinite Critique community whilst providing herself with a platform to reach a new, more intelligent, audience out of the direct glare of the media spotlight.
This presents me with a few problems. First of all, how do I know that she is who she says she is? Sure, I could telephone her on the number she has provided but any intelligent young woman could pretend to be this person. Secondly, there is a risk of damage by association if her past is allowed to cast a shadow over her future.
My gut reaction is that the email is genuine. If Infinite Critique had an audience of millions I can see how I could become a target for people looking for easy traffic. But, at this point, Infinite Critique is still in beta. The rest of the community would benefit more from the traffic and publicity this person could bring than the other way around. Also, this person does seem to want to branch out into more serious literary pursuits, and her application to become part of the Infinite Critique community would afford her an opportunity to blog and reach a totally different audience to the one she is associated with.
By now you are probably wondering who this mystery woman is.

If I gave a more specific hint it would be much easier to guess and take a lot of the fun away. Having said that, if no one guesses correctly by the end of the week I’ll start adding some small clues, one day at a time.
I would say Paris Hilton, but I doubt she’s been on any game shows. Neither had Britney Spears.
So, perhaps, Jenna Jameson? Kirstie Alley? Or even Betty White?
