Agreed. It is over the top sleazy linking methods. Plus, in the end, the quality of the links are no good. Better to just go about it the good and honest way. You may not squeeze out that extra dollar in the end, but you’ll know that you have an honest reputation at the end of the day.

As for me, I actually prefer a clean conscience when going to sleep every night.

It should be pretty simple to take care of that with the is_home condition.

If you stick the following in the header:

Code to show here.

In this case, you would put the code for the header image in between the
tags and then it would only show the header image if you are on the home page. Any other page would not show it.

Hi, thanks for the theme i just installed it on my blog. I have one problem though, i’d like to hide the header image from pages displaying single posts. I noticed that in the singlepost.php file i can only edit the entire header as a whole.

is it possible to hide the header image for single posts?

I’ve always felt a polite obligation to keep a theme credit in the blog themes I’ve used in the past as well, but recently found myself in a situation where I’ve needed to manually remove the theme credit.

The theme was already in use and modified before the friend I am helping purchased the rights to remove it. Unfortunately the method provided would also erase all of our theme modifications, so I began to look into removing it manually. I realized, when looking through the HTML that the theme credit and footer – which was tied to the theme credit – were full of three to five links to absurd and unrelated services like NYC Hotels and server hosting.

I understand completely the need to attribute the people who put effort into creating some of your site, but I find it a little disgusting to try and use that situation to make money by selling backlinks.

What about you?

Another pointless gimmick. You can argue its merits or shortcomings all you want but the reality is that .com has been ingrained in all of us. Anyone punching in a domain as opposed to searching for something will always go .com out of habit so your weenie.co traffic will all wind up at weenie.com anyway. If you’re hoping to cash in on this it’s a pipe dream. Better to actually put the work in and go for organic results.

They wre pushing the .co extension at this years Superbowl. That was the first I actually paid any attention to it. Jeez, the superbowl. Why? All I was thinking is, ‘Great, I’ll have to shell out more money. Not because I need the extension… just to prevent someone else from procuring it.

But wait didn’t they say YEARS ago that .ws was the new great extension to solve the .com availability crisis? How many people do you know with a .ws extension? Me, personnally? None. Of course .ws didn’t advertise through godaddy at the Superbowl.

While I’ve seen worse, your piece is pretty flimsy. But it persists over two-years since publishing so it’s good marketing for you, anyway.

As unconventional as Tim’s approach often is, 4HWW is not a scam. It’s true that he makes it sound simpler than it is, but that’s not really scammy. Zig Ziglar said to improve your life you should take in material that is inspirational, motivational and educational. 4HWW is all of these things, in that order. I’d have to say probably 60%, 30% and 10% respectively because it is indeed light on specifics. More than most inspirational/motivational material I’ve read, though. Obviously only a fraction of readers will attempt to apply the concepts offered and even fewer will persist in the face of difficulties. That’s why despite it’s being a best-seller you don’t suddenly see a falloff in hourly work. It also largely speaks to cubicle monkeys (of which I was once one) whose work is almost exclusively computer based.

Bottom line is the original author of this piece should read Tim’s piece responding to all the “haters” if she hasn’t already. First ranked for Googling “tim ferriss scam” (this piece was #4) I thought it was an excellent answer to this type of baseless criticism. But I figure it was more meant for marketing her blog anyway and if so that makes her the charlatan.

Thanks for challenging my opinion, anyway. But most people talk a lot (especially bloggers). Consider testing concepts before criticizing and you’ll be much better off in life.

I guess if I could take off for a 15 month”break” in another country everytime I felt a little pressure from something, perhaps it would help my outlook on life. Tim seems like a spoiled brat. Poor thing. His head was about to explode with worry so he just packs up and takes a long vacation. Guess you can do that if you dont have any kids, mortgage, family that may be ill or any life. Its so much easier when your 20 or 30 something than 50 something. Grow up dude. If you want a REAL book read UNMPLOYED MILLIONAIRE by Matt Morris. This guy has his head on straight.
