Interesting post on Slate by Daniel Engber about his attempt to win a “contagious media” contest by creating a site called Crying, While Eating. The site features videos of distraught individuals bawling about everything from failing to plan to always succumbing to temptation, while eating a smorgasbord of depressing food ranging from “Hokey Pokey” ice cream to moldy cheese. Pictured above: Engber’s girlfriend Christy eating sausage with mushrooms and cheese, crying about being good at lots of things, but not great at anything.

Crying, While Eating offers a platter of warped entertainment, but Engber’s entry, subtitled “My sad, hungry climb to Internet stardom,” is the more delectable treat, describing the ups and downs as he pursues the prize. You’ll have to read the entry to see if he wins.
