Create Instant Color Schemes From Words

I’ve written about several tips and tools for finding color schemes, both in Macworld and on Futurosity, but Instant Color Schemes is unique. Enter any word or phrase and Instant Color Schemes creates a customized color palette, pulling the most prominent six colors from each of five images from Yahoo! Image Search. The results are displayed in a table; each column of colors represents colors from a single image.

The results may or may not match what you expect from the search terms. For example, enter Apple and you’ll see something like this:

Apple color scheme

I haven’t seen too many gray apples growing on trees, but the first column does look a bit like my computer.

Upstart Blogger (upstart + blog) looks like this:

Upstart Blogger color scheme

Instant Color Schemes. Via etc.
