One of most common misconceptions about making money with a blog is that it is necessary to post every day, or even multiple times a day, in order to generate an income. As misconceptions go this one is pretty destructive, making potential bloggers think they won’t have enough time to maintain a successful blog.

The cold hard truth is that content generates traffic hundreds of times more efficiently than post frequency, and the better the content is the more traffic it will generate.

Blog post frequency should be determined by the frequency at which you can generate original and valuable content.

If you can write valuable content at the rate of one post per week, or even one post per month, your blog can still be a success. In fact, it doesn’t matter how often you post as long as your blog has a reasonably consistent rhythm that your audience can recognize and follow.

Quality content will result in links and referral traffic from other blogs Those links will go on to give you authority in the eyes of the search engines resulting in more traffic. Your readers will start to interact, your back links will grow in line with your reputation and, if you maintain your posting rhythm and keep the quality high, the virtuous circle will continue.

The cliché is true. Content is king.

Don’t let misconceptions prevent you from starting a blog. As long as your content is of value you will get traffic and, with the right monetization, you can and will make money online.
