Buying and selling blogs is not for the faint hearted as Pawel Ciszewski, the new owner of WPDesigner.com, is finding out to his cost.
A little over a month ago WPDesigner.com was on the market for around $65,000. Ok, so it didn’t reach anywhere near that amount but that could have been because of the speed of the deal. The seller almost certainly reduced the price for a quick sale.
One thing that wasn’t in dispute was the valuation of WPDesigner.com. It was worth $65,000. In the right hands it was a virtual gold mine. I even put my own hat in the ring, offering to bank role a deal if the right blogger came along.
30 days have now passed and WPDesigner.com is back on the market, almost officially now if rumors are to be believed, for just $15,000, its reputation in tatters and its traffic in free fall.
Pawel Ciszewski made three major mistakes. One, he posted a hasty and unprofessional introductory post. Two, he didn’t post anything else for 30 days and made no changes to the site. And three, he left comments open and unmoderated.
WPDesigner.com is now overflowing with spam and is seemingly adrift in the blogosphere. The only thing propping up the traffic is the comedy value of some of the comments. That and the large number of people, constantly checking for updates, who have made $5 each to join a wordpress theme club that no longer functions.
It’s a shame. All that wasted potential. $50,000 of value wiped out in 30 days.
Don’t make the same mistake as Pawel Ciszewski. Don’t even think about buying a blog unless you have a plan and the ability to stick to it.

this is a damn crying shame. :(
I would love to take over a website as WPDesigner - it had so much potential, and still does! I was surprised that nothing had been done with it for so long. There are a number of articles popping up saying things like “Save WPDesigner” and the like. Such a shame. I wonder how the original owner feels. I reckon he’d be a bit disapointed.

Just curious, how rich (or stupid) is Pawel Ciszewski, that he can afford such “mistakes”?
I’m one of those $5 theme club members, and I think its a shame. I thought the theme club was a great idea, too bad another site wouldn’t think about doing the same…hint…hint.
It would be great to have some premium quality themes available through a club like that, with premium theme-type features (think features like the mimbo pro article carousel)
There goes one of my fav blogs
