I am not Vic Reeves

Vic Reeves. Arguably one of the funniest men on the planet. Or at least he was, once.

Vic Reeves Big Night Out, during it’s short but perfectly formed 2 year run in the early 1990’s, was irreverent, anarchic comedy at it’s finest.

And now, Vic Reeves is nothing more than yet another desperate has been celebrity, scraping the bottom of the celebrity barrel for whatever dodgy reality show he can sink his teeth into.

My criticism is entirely justified, as cruel as it may seem. Vic Reeves had a loyal following who tuned in to watch his shows because he was, or at least appeared to be, an honest comedian who was in the game for all the right reasons. And then, over the course of the next few decades, he threw it all away, ruining his reputation by appearing in the sort of criminally bad television that would have once made him shudder with horror.

I am not Vic Reeves.

Upstart Blogger, and my other blogs, have a loyal and growing following. One which I have no intention of losing or throwing away.

Family and friends aside, my jazz career is the most important thing in the world to me. And my blogging career underpins my jazz career financially.

Regular readers know that I’m not a drive by pro blogger. My blogs are not filled with advertisements for a plethora of scams and schemes. And they never will be.

That is why the last few days, as evidenced by my email inbox, have been such a surprise to me.

My decision to launch the Genesis Rocket has been seen by some as a turn to the dark side. It isn’t. It’s simply a natural extension of this blog. I write content, I share stories, I open up and pour things out through the keyboard.

And sometimes I sell things.

If I wanted to take my blog to the dark side, slapping everyone in the face in the way that some emails are suggesting I have done by daring to offer some of my work in return for money, I would turn it into a flashing banner farm, milking it dry as quickly as possible.

To my recent critics I say this. Selling information isn’t a crime. It isn’t selling out. It’s a perfectly legitimate business model employed by millions of businesses and professionals.

To those of you who continue to support me. Thank you. I won’t let you down.

And finally, to everyone who has pre ordered the Genesis Rocket taking advantage of the less than half price offer before its full release on Friday July 10. Fasten your seat belt. You’re in for one hell of a ride.
