Facebook is considered by many to have some structural issues that can cause privacy problems. And that’s putting it as mildly and as kindly as possible.
Apple have a massive user base installed in iTunes. Many of those users have happily given Apple their credit card details in order to make their iTunes experience easier.
Yesterday Apple announced that iTunes will now incorporate a social networking element called Ping.
All of those iTunes users who have trusted Apple with their credit card information and a wealth of other information pertaining to taste and buying habits (a marketing mans dream come true) are now being asked to become part of a social network for music.
Did anyone else notice the way that Steve Jobs quickly said the following line,
privacy is real easy
almost like it wasn’t even an issue?
Are we the only people sitting back, stroking our chins and thinking that this is a privacy nightmare waiting to happen?
