I’ve often toyed with Linkedin. I use the term toyed because I have never really sunk my teeth into Linkedin, I’ve never sat down and spent an afternoon getting to grips with it to make it work for me that way it should.

Until now.

Over the last few days I’ve been working on my Linkedin account, encouraged to do so by Linkedin’s recent changes, namely the easy integration of a Twitter account, a fresh clean layout change and a raft of beta applications.

It would seem that Linkedin is no longer happy to sit back and play second fiddle to Twitter. And, although I’m not sure that any social network is ever going to unseat Twitter, I’m very happy that Linkedin is really trying to become a more useable and a more rewarding place.

Twitter, powerful as it is, has an Achilles heal. It is still hampered by newbies who want to use it to share tales of what they had for breakfast. And those newbies guard that functionality with their jealous zeal. They don’t like people making money.

Thankfully there is a way to sidestep the junk and make real money.

I use Twitter, along with Genesis Rocket, to move a lot of traffic. It’s a system that works incredibly well for me. And I’m very happy to admit that even thought I once called Twitter a collosal waste of time.

And that’s Twitter’s Achilles heal. Despite it’s meteoric rise it still has an image problem amongst a certain demographic who just don’t get it and, maybe, never will.

Linkedin has that demographic, the Twitter sceptic demographic, covered. Very well covered indeed.

Pushing your Linkedin updates through Twitter and your Twitter updates through Linkedin could be a great way to cross pollenate your social networks and ultimately extend your social media reach.

The benefits could be huge.

On a side note, I’m recommending this new management blog, TheMana.gr. The state of management in business is terrible now a days. With the theories and principles discussed at TheMana.gr you can get the essentials you need to develop as a leader and a manager.
