Many readers will already be aware of my long standing friendship with Jo Beaufoix. Jo is a great blogger and a great mum to 2 great little girls who also have a great father, the drummer in my band, Enormous.
Jo is involved in a project that should be very close to everyone who has a heart, especially if they are a parent.
The Joseph Salmon Trust.
The following is taken from the trust website thejosephsalmontrust.org.uk.
Joseph was a happy, healthy three year old who loved life. He enjoyed playing with his toy trains, his cars and his pretend kitchen. He had a busy social life, with lots of friends from nursery, friends who lived nearby and his little sister.
He enjoyed cooking with his mummy, going on trains and buses with his daddy, and playing outside with anyone who would join in.
Joseph had a passion for books and had just started to ‘read’ them to his younger sister. It felt like his life was just beginning.
This all changed on 1st April 2005, when Joseph died. Joseph did not suffer, he simply fell into a deeper sleep from which he never awoke.
The Joseph Salmon Trust has been set up in his name
The trust is relatively new but has already attracted the support of a handful of local companies along with a Google Grant Award.
One of those supporters is my friend Jo. And today she emailed me to tell me about a sponsored walk that she and a small group of bloggers are embarking upon in the near future.
Modest as always, Jo commented that she hopes the walk will make her bottom smaller.
I’m sure it will. But, as I’m sure you aware, that’s not why she is doing it. She’s doing it to raise money and publicity for The Joseph Salmon Trust. A just giving page is available here.
The Joseph Salmon Trust need as much publicity as they can get. Because, like all small charities with very specific aims, the fickle spotlight of publicity is very often busy elsewhere.
And that’s where you come in.
I know how many of you there are. And I know that some of you have very powerful blogs, very powerful social media accounts, and very powerful connections.
The Joseph Salmon Trust needs a spotlight.
And you can make that spotlight happen. Link them up with all you’ve got. Tweet and ReTweet them like you never have before.
The URLs you need. http://www.thejosephsalmontrust.org.uk. http://www.twitter.com/salmontrust. http://www.justgiving.com/jobeaufoix.
Push as much traffic to any of those links as you can.
If social media is meant for anything it is for helping out the little guy. And the little guy in this story, Joseph Salmon, can’t ask you to do it himself.
Let’s make this happen.
