Pligg Template: Upstart Blogger One

I had a request from someone to release the Pligg template I had been using for the Upstart Blogger Grapevine. I’ll probably create a new template to match whatever theme I’m using on Upstart Blogger when Pligg v1.0 is released, so I’m going to make this available for download now. But…

Warning: This template is not compatible with the current version of Pligg. This template is, frankly, a mess. I’m making it available as is (I’ve removed my stats code from the footer and that’s about it). I am not supporting this template. This template is NOT for beginners. There’s no README file. In short, you’re on your own.

I may or may not make a clean version of this template available in the future, but as long as you know what you’re getting in to, you’re free to download it and look under the hood. I assume you know what you’re doing, but here are a few tips:

  1. Do a search of all the files in the directory and locate the hard coded URLs for http://www.upstartblogger.com/. Obviously, you’ll want to delete these and replace them with your own.
  2. Do the same for AN Hosting. You’ll probably want to delete these. But if you’re looking for a host, please give them a look.

Here’s a preview (click to enlarge):

Upstart Blogger One

Oh, I’m calling this Upstart Blogger One because I can’t think of a clever name for it. Any suggestions?

This Pligg template is released under the Creative Commons Attribution v3.0, meaning you can do pretty much whatever you want with it, but you should (please) keep the link back to Upstart Blogger, either in the sidebar or the footer, so that it appears on every page of your site. You’re not going to remove the Pligg link are you?

It is a beautiful template! What more can I say?

You mention that it is not compatible with the Current version? So my next obvious question is what version is it compatible with? 9.1 hopefully. I am still using this version until 1.0 is released

It’s one or two versions behind, either 9 or 9.1 (heck, where do you find the version, anyway? I see they’ve added it to the Admin in 9.5, but I don’t know where you find it in earlier versions!).

In any case, if you’re using 9.1, there shouldn’t be many changes to make. I’m sorry I can’t remember what they were, but you may have to change a few tags which should be obvious when you test and see what’s broken.

Thanks for your reply. The only reason why I know the version is because it is the only version I’ve ever installed. Thanks again for your contribution to the pligg community.

seems like voting doesn’t work anymore when using pligg 9.6! any plans to update? i’d gladly do it myself, but i find pligg changes for templates not so well documented. hints?

  5. Sorry, jan. No plans to update and I can’t help you. Read this.

Hi Robert. I would like to upgrade this great template to 9.9 pligg version, and use it in my site, of course with a link to upstartblogger, and with your name. But i dont know if i could… because in the template says: All rights reserved. I really would like to make my own modification of this template. Well, what could we do?
    Sorry for my english.
