Pligg Templates Update Status
After spending the better part of this weekend attempting to upgrade my Pligg templates, I’ve reluctantly decided to postpone any updates until the next version of Pligg, Pligg v1.0, is released.
The templates, which were hack jobs from the beginning, were becoming impossibly confused salads of code from Digital Nature and yget. Trying to update the templates while retaining the same formatting was an ordeal akin to balancing a checkbook that’s a penny off.
Since yget seems to be the only template included in the official releases of Pligg, it makes sense to build any future versions around the yget code, and the easiest way to do this is to start from scratch. That’s something I only want to do once, so I’m going to delay any updates until the Pligg code is stable.
Also, I’m discontinuing support for the Upstart Blogger Tutor Lite template. I thought it was a great idea, but there were very few downloads of this template compared to FuturePligg Solemnity and UpstartAqueous. Also, the Pligg developers may be working on something similar themselves.
I know that this news will come as a disappointment to some Pliggers. If someone else would like to take over these templates, I’m happy to let them go in the best interest of the Pligg community.

I find it totally understandable. Good luck with your future projects!
Thanks, Calitoe. I appreciate that. Good luck to you!
Any time-frame on the stable release of Pligg?
Doug, I don’t know the answer to that. But my guess is maybe in another month or so.
arrrrrrrgh :(
I had to need UpstartAqueous (compatible with new pligg version) asap.
Bad news for me… Snif…
Sorry, Dominik. I’m sticking with the old version of Pligg myself until v1.0 is released.
Yes I understand Robert. ;)
But I already updated my version of pligg. And – as an idiot – I didn’t save the database. Come back is very difficult (plenty of errors with “vote” :( )
I think that my last issue is to choose another template (argggg => all my design, in the trashcan) or reset all my web project…
Dominik, I feel for you. Please see my post, 8 MySQL Backup Strategies for WordPress Bloggers (And Others), so this never happens to you again!
it’s a pity since i just came across pligg and now there is no good template :-(
anyway, i totally understand you though i think v1.0 will be pretty similiar to the current release (concerning template).
cheers
I love Pligg, but hacking Pligg templates is a pain. You’re probably right that there won’t be that many changes, but trying to find what’s changed is half the work. I don’t expect it will be too long before v1.0.
Robert,
I came back on PLIGG 9.0 and I modified a lot your template to be fully compatible with this one (because AQUEOUS was very bugged :( )
CSS, codes, etc has been deeply edited…
It works fine now.
Like Eric, I’m waiting for Aqueous update impatiently ! :)
Thanks for your comment, Dominik. Yeah, my templates are buggy. I’m still learning Pligg and they are cut and paste jobs, which is why I warn people. But when v1.0 comes out I hope to find the time to do a cleaner port with the new code.
;)
I could help you (modestly)

Whoa! Dominik, your site looks great! Nice, bright, colorful look.
Thanks for the offer of help. I’ll keep you in mind when v1.0 comes out.
Thanx Robert but without your initial template, my work would have been impossible.
