Rent out space on your blog for extra traffic and income

Bloggers, myself included, are always looking for new ways to increase their traffic and income. A very easy way to do this is to offer those without an online presence the opportunity to use your blog, more specifically a blog post, as a simple point of reference from which to advertise themselves. Almost like an online business card.

The traffic potential is enormous. At least as enormous as the number of people eager to get a foot in the online door who maybe, for whatever reason, are unable to create a blog of their own.

As long as you give people the chance to gain exposure for free they will take it. All you need to do is choose who to feature on your blog. The recipient of your generous offer will then become a walking talking advertisement for your blog, promoting their post and driving extra traffic from extended contact circles that you would otherwise not be able to reach.

Imagine you let 5 people appear on your blog. Each of the 5 people write their own blog post, submit it to you, and you post it online. You could, if you wish, give them a contributor account of their own so that they could edit their own post and manage their own comments.

Those 5 people will now be free to promote their respective posts on social networking sites, in conversations with their friends, family and colleagues, and in any way they choose.

Potentially, you will have increased your social media presence by a multiple of 5.

And, if in the future one of your blog tenants becomes successful in their own right and goes on to have a blog of their own you can exchange links and perhaps, if they really hit it big, benefit from additional search engine traffic.

The short term benefits to all involved are great. The long term benefits, particularly to you as the initial blog owner, are huge.

If you like the sound of this method and want to get the ball rolling, post a link back to this blog post on your Twitter account or blog, along with an invitation to prospective tenants, inviting them to be featured on your blog.

After all, I’ve already proved that it works. Luke Davis, of six figure Luke fame, has a page here at Upstart Blogger and is happily pumping his Twitter traffic in this direction.

He’s making money, I’m making money. Everyone’s happy.

  1. That sounds like a really good idea. A lot of people out there would be more than happy to take up such an opportunity but you do have to be careful that the post arent something that will have an adverse effect on your blog.

  2. This is a great idea and one that I am going to implement with some friends and colleagues of mine. It seems like a more efficient way to connect/recommend other as opposed to a service such as Facebook or LinkedIn.
