Not all blog posts are created equal. Some have an unfair start in life and attract rich organic search engine traffic, the best kind of traffic there is, all day long.
Thankfully, the following magnetic blog topics can be used on your blog regardless of your niche. It’s simple. If you want an extra big hit of traffic write a blog post about one of the following,
- GTD. The blogosphere goes mad for anything to do with the Getting Things Done productivity method. Since GTD can be used by anyone you can easily write a blog post about how GTD works in your niche.
- Moleskine. The notebook of choice with a cult following. A massive cult following. Tell your audience how a Moleskine notebook helps you in your niche and watch your stats climb.
- Using an iPod or iPhone for something other than it’s intended purpose. If you can install some software on your iPod or iPhone that Apple doesn’t want you to install and tell others how to do it people will form a queue in front of your blog.
- Instructions on how to make an ordinary task easier or more productive. I have no idea why these posts are so popular despite the banality of some of the advice but they really are traffic magnets. For instance, if you can tell someone how to iron a shirt faster than normal the traffic will role in. Add the word ninja to the title and the traffic will race in even faster. You probably think I’m joking but try it and you’ll see that I’m telling you the truth.
- Give something away for free. It doesn’t matter what it is. People love free. Music, an eBook, even a coupon code for an online service, as long as it is free it will attract traffic.
- Lists. Write a list. Any list. It doesn’t have to be anything clever or even entertaining. It just has to be a list. Can’t think of anything. List your top ten sandwich fillings and see what happens.
To make things a little more interesting, and as an added incentive for you to try out these ideas, I’ll give one blogger a 30 day PR7 link in the Upstart Blogger sidebar. All you have to do is leave a comment below with a link to your post between now and the end of the month at which point I’ll pick a winner.
Writing about any of the above will get you traffic. Getting a PR7 link to your blog for 30 days will get you even more.

I just found your link today - great tips thanks so much for sharing.
The first 3 seem to be industry/niche specific to me, I don’t think a celebrity rumors blog would want to chat about moleskine notebooks. The last 3 are however applicable in any niche.
Thank you for this contest. I will try writing on GTD. Hope you will like it :)
Nice informations with great offer :) No one comments yet? Well maybe I’m the first and the luck blogger to got the sidebar link :)
I like the point about writing a list in our post. Maybe I’ll try this. Thanks friends :)
God Bless us
I’ve written a ‘ninja’ inspired post.

^_^
yes, people like free things.
I made a list and included the word ninja in the title so its like a double traffic magnet except its not creating any traffic.

Enjoy!
Warhound…. you spelled it NIJA ….not NINJA!
I noticed you kinda used 3 of your 6 suggestions while writing that post. So I tried my first humor post on my blog, and tried to use all 6.

Enjoy!
I’m giving away the domain name cofreehost.com, which hasn’t proved an incredible traffic magnet yet, but hey…
I’ve also written a list of my seven favourite sandwich fillings, which has not been entirely successful.
Oh, and this post sort of relates to points 1 and 2.
To be honest, these tips have not been incredible magic silver bullets. But I’m certainly going to be continuing to try to consider them when blogging.
I wrote a post on how I use a certain type of Moleskine for writing comics.

And I worked in a free giveaway as well.
