Time to batten down the hatches and prepare for a massive increase in traffic and income

Revealing the money making secrets of my highest earning affiliate caused a lot of controversy. Although the affiliate in question was more than happy for his method to be laid bare, since as an intelligent and experienced marketer he understands that there is more than enough traffic and money for everyone to enjoy, many people felt that it was irresponsible to explain such a powerful money making system.

Why were so many people concerned? Because the controversial method that my highest earning affiliate employs is, or could be considered to be, a black hat Twitter method.

Some people, those who were intelligent enough to understand just how easy the method was to implement, took the information and used it to build an online income. Others, as is always the case, decided that it was better to moan and bellyache about how I was making it too easy for people to make money with Twitter.

And before anyone takes offense at that last paragraph please let me assure you that it is only aimed at the moaners and bellyachers. Many Upstart Blogger readers don’t want to make money online, don’t need to make money online, and have little interest in how to make money fast and easily on Twitter. I am not for 1 minute accusing them of not having enough intelligence to understand my last post.

My quarrel, inferred or otherwise, is squarely with the usual crowd who seem to think that making money online is some kind of sin, and that the easier that money is made the more sinful that sin becomes.

It was hilarious. My inbox was full of emails from people saying thank you and also from people whining. Those who read, understood and applied the method are already making money. Those who bellyached and stamped their feet are still bellyaching and stamping their feet, getting more and more hot under the collar at the thought of people making money with little effort while they struggle for little reward.

Don’t these people get it? It’s not about how hard you work, it’s about how smart you work.

And, as usual, whenever I write anything that is remotely controversial, there was a massive influx of traffic.

However, this time that influx of traffic appears to be bigger, and more sustained, than ever before.

Yesterday, Monday October 26 2009, 10,214 unique visitors read Upstart Blogger.

10,214.

That’s a lot of eyeballs. A lot of attention. And a massive opportunity to push things to the next level.

Eagle eyed readers will notice a tiny change in the header graphics across Upstart Blogger. Nothing major, just a subtle tweak to maintain a consistent feel and typographic rhythm across my brand.

Later this week I’ll add some new promotional graphics for affiliates and unveil another new free Wordpress theme that should unlock the final piece of my brand puzzle.

And, in another potentially controversial move, I’ll explain exactly how another one of my affiliates, who currently earns around $940 every day, uses a single Twitter account and a free email autoresponder to build a list that makes money all day, every day. All powered by Genesis Rocket.

Thats’s hilarious. I knew that would probably happen when I read your last post.

You’re absolutely right. Some people just don’t get it and would rather go through life getting all bent out of shape and frustrated with their own failure than actually listen to people who know what they are talking about.

FYI I built 7 Twitter accounts over the weekend and made my first Genesis Rocket sale on Monday. Happy days!

Already looking forward to the autoresponder method. Keep up the good work dude.

Congratulations on finding a way to show people how to make money whilst simultaneously annoying the hell out of your critics!

First thing you should learn is never to insult your audience. You’re doing just that.. You are implying that people who do not utilize this method are somehow not intelligent, as per this quote:

“Some people, those who were intelligent enough to understand just how easy the method was to implement, took the information and used it to build an online income.”

Ofcourse we know how easy and simple it is to spam twitter or email accounts. Most people simply don’t do this because of ethical reasons. It seems you don’t care either way: “When the money keeps rolling you don’t ask how.”

Secondly, it’s always interesting to me how you say you received a ton of emails about this, yet I never see the actual conversation on your blog, where it should reside. This probably has to do with how much of the comments made on this blog are never approved. This blog would improve greatly if you dropped that restriction and just let people discuss the matter at hand in an open and honest way.

Jonathon, glad it’s working out for you, and thanks for the sale. I’m sure you’ll make plenty more as you accounts grow and develop.

Adam, thanks. It really has turned out to be a win win.

Wesley, I’m not trying to insult anyone and I think that’s pretty clear. However, just in case, I’ve edited the post and included the following statement that I think may address some of your concerns…

“Many Upstart Blogger readers don’t want to make money online, don’t need to make money online, and have little interest in how to make money fast and easily on Twitter. I am not for 1 minute accusing them of not having enough intelligence to understand my last post.

My quarrel, inferred or otherwise, is squarely with the usual crowd who seem to think that making money online is some kind of sin, and that the easier that money is made the more sinful that sin becomes.”

With regard to your comment about my moderation preferences I’d like you to consider the kind of comments that I reject and why I reject them. You seem to suggest that I delete anything negative. If you look back through the archives you’ll see that this is certainly not the case.

I do, however, delete any comments that are personal, insulting, or defamatory to me or to any of my readers. Furthermore, I delete any comments that are obvious attempts to ride on this blog’s coat tails and are laced with obvious links to various scams.

If I deleted everything that simply portrayed my in a negative light I wouldn’t have approved your comment, would I?

The bottom line in all of this is that there will always be people who prefer to spend their time complaining about how other people make money. Most of the time these people will be frustrated at the own lack of success and, often blinded by their own anger, can’t see that the solution is usually starring them in the face.

I’ve always maintained that being successful online, including the act of making money if that is what you desire, isn’t hard. The internet is, in this respect, logical. Causality reigns. And shooting the messenger, especially when I’m just telling it like it is, is futile.

You still haven’t addressed the ethics of doing this. Do you think this is much different from email spam? Go 5 years back in time and I’m sure email spamming was as easy as twitter spamming is now. Would you advocate it’s use then?

Of course the key difference here is that I would have to follow you before you can spam me. However, I’m thinking more of twitter as a discovery engine and spam does hurt the search functonality big time. Even the trending topics could be manipulated by spammers.

Already the search results for genesis rocket are containing a lot of duplicate results (made by duplicate accounts) thus decreasing the value of twitter search: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=genesis+rocket

About the comment moderation, I do remember several of my comments from months ago not being approved, comments that did not include anything insulting, just questioning your post as I’m doing now. I’m glad to see this one got approved though.

Oh, and just so you know, I make my entire income online, so it’s not as if I’m one of those people who is “frustrated” at my own lack of success.

Wesley, I think we are potentially arguing unnecessarily.

I’m not deleting your comments as this post hopefully proves. I do have a very aggressive spam filter, necessarily so, that may have snagged some comments in the past and if that’s the case then I’ll look into it for you. I have no wish, and it’s not in my interest or anyone else’s, to silence you in anyway.

The information I posted didn’t condone spam. It simply shared the truth. My highest earning affiliate is using Genesis Rocket to make a fortune and he’s doing it by gaming the system.

I have a post scheduled to go out next week that will make my last 2 posts seem much deeper than they at first appear. It will all make sense in time, I assure you.

Just 1 last thing, (you don’t have to approve this comment), by moderating comments are you stopping the conversation. For example, my above comment took over a day to be approved. That kills conversation. I guarantee you if you just approved all comments automatically like most other blogs are you will again go to the next level with your blog. Right now the comment system on this site seems like an afterthought. Instead of being a discussion site, this is an announcement site. Discussion keeps people coming back.

Ok, that was the last of this, I won’t bring this up again.

  8. Ashley Morgan October 30th, 2009 at 3:11 pm

Wesley, if I didn’t moderate I would be overrun with spam. And people get more and more devious as time goes by. I tried the ‘approve automatically once 1 comment has been manually approved’ method and found that spammers just put in a legitimate comment to get their foot in the door and then spam.

I take what you are saying on board, however, and I do agree, discussion keeps people coming back.

I’ll look into this and see if I can come up with a workable solution that enables the comments to flow naturally whilst keeping the blog spam free.
