Upstart Blogger Minim Now WordPress 2.3 Compatible

I’ve updated Upstart Blogger Minim to be compatible with WordPress 2.3.

This new version now displays tags on the index and post pages and a tag cloud in the sidebar. I’ve also fixed the layout issues if you require visitors to log in to post. In addition, I gave the template files a little dusting and cleaning, fixing tags and deleting extraneous code. There have been no changes to the style.css file, so if you haven’t changed the template files updating should be very easy.

I don’t expect any more changes to this theme unless I’ve inadvertently introduced new problems, so I’m releasing this as v1.0. Please let me know if I’ve mucked things up.

You can grab the updated version from the theme page, WordPress Theme: Upstart Blogger Minim.

    Hi Robert,

Love the theme – it’s beautiful! But now that you’ve updated it for WordPress 2.3 it doesn’t seem to work properly on older versions of Wordpress. I’m trying to run it on WordPress 2.0.1 because that is the latest release of WordPress compatible with Debian Etch – WordPress 2.3 is only compatible with Debian Sid (unstable).

We cleared up one error message manually:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: language_attributes() in /usr/share/wordpress/wp-content/themes/upstart-blogger-minim-01/header.php on line 2

But then we got this one:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: the_search_query() in /usr/share/wordpress/wp-content/themes/upstart-blogger-minim-01/searchform.php on line 2

and we figured out that this is a compatibility issue.

All the links to the old versions point to this latest release. Is there any chance you could either make an older version (compatible with WordPress 2.0.1) available?

    Thanks,

    Alex

@Alex: The error you’re getting souldn’t have anything to do with 2.3 compatibility, which adds tags for tagging and tag clouds. Your error is related to search.

I’m not familiar with Debian so I can’t tell you how to solve this problem. You might try the WordPress forums.

I’m emailing you a copy of the previous version just in case.

Thank you for building a great blog theme. It saved my blog when my other theme failed.

Question: I noticed that there is a tag cloud element. I’m unable to get the tag cloud to work. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to activate it?

    Thank you in advance.

@Urban Thought: You shouldn’t need to do anything. Just add some tags to your posts in WordPress 2.3.
