Yesterday 13,982 people read this blog, each visiting an average of 3.42 pages. If you are one of them (which if you are reading this you probably are) we have some questions for you, if you don’t mind sparing a few valuable seconds.
Who are you, how did you find us, what were you looking for, did you find it and how can we help you?
Those questions too blunt for you? Just leave a comment and say hello, share a little about yourself and see where it takes you.

I first found UB from the free themes (about 2 years ago). I’ve used a few of them on some of my sites (http://makefunof.us and http://photographerswhoblog.com). As I got more into blogging, and trying to figure out how to earn an income from it, I found a lot of great info here.
Even more than the direct info on here though, I found it useful to study the actions of Ashley Morgan on this blog – and found some very effective traffic getting techniques. For instance, find a really hot topic everyone likes and then take the polar opposite side and trash it with lots of hyperbole and extreme claims. Of course, that also got him into some trouble… But you don’t have to be so extreme.
I am looking forward to seeing more from this blog. But without a lot of hype. No “Earn a million dollars in 2 seconds sitting on your ass doing nothing” kind of crap. We all know it takes hard work and effort to make money, anywhere.
Came here looking for information about the .co domain names that confirmed by suspicions that they were yet another guru run affiliate scam.
I’m Brad and I came here after searching for red wordpress themes which I found and will probably use if I ever stop procrastinating and actually start a blog!
My name is Sean and I write ‘bastardo’. I found you by randomly clicking on one of Paste Magazine’s twitter friends. It happened to be you. I couldn’t work out what you were all about from your twitter page, so i clicked on your website. Now I’m here. I was kind of hoping this would be a website that gave advice on how to add cool stuff, provide advice to improve your blog and ways to generate more traffic. But answering your questions was fun too.
My name is above, I’ve been an Upstart reader since long ago (before Ashley Morgan owned it, even!), and I’ve been subscribed to the RSS feed for a long time.
Interested to see how things grow & change here, it’s been very quiet for a while…
Hello! I am Michele (@scrappinmichele). I do not remember how I found your blog. I come here because I learn something new and I love learning.
I’ve been blogging about 2 years and I’m happy with where I am at, but I am always looking to improve my blog, my skills, my writing and I love reading blogs.
My full name has ten syllables. We’ll just make it easy. I’m a 21 year-old female, 3rd year advertising design student at AAU, in San Fran.
About 5 months ago I stumbled upon Upstart Blogger via Google, while doing research for a website design class.
It was the audacious font choice and size, as well as the unique site layout, that really caught my attention. And kept it. So I subscribed to the feed and implemented the enormous WP theme on my own website, where I showcase my own personal/ professional work and exercise my writing skills. I love the information UB provides and the fact that UB is not stingy with their WP themes.
I must admit that UB has had quite a face lift since our first introduction, now emphasizing a focus on content more than presentation. But, with all due respect, right now, I’m just not sure if the new look complements you as much as it could.
Long time reader, originally via twitter
Surely you have analytics running on your site? How many of those visitors were actually direct visitors? These must be the readership you wish to know the provenance of, am i correct?
I am a 37 yr old single male web geek aspiring to improve the lack of skills in websign, writing, and programming. I guess you can say I let my skills get alittle stuck back in the late 80s or early 90s and been struggeling to get my skills up to average ever since.
I was searching the web for CSS information when I got off track and started reading blogs. See What I love most is reading great articles from places like Popurls.com and seeing great webdesigns that hold the articles.
I’m still worken on my site and it is rough work in progress but it does have a ton of great links! For example.. the article by smashing magazine “The Death of the boring blog post” was very inspirational http://bit.ly/d5lBwp. It mentions possible even designing unique web pages for each post… example Dcurtis blog.
Finally, thats my confession… I want to improve my skills to at least average… I want to write blogs and design webpages..maybe even databases that connect to the page… and my skills are lacking so I’m reading a lot online…
I ran into the site by way of .. design shack has your blog posted at this website…
http://designshack.co.uk/gallery/colour/000000/380/
and i really like bllack and white sites.. and i wan to star blogging so i clicked your site.

My name is Jo, I found you in Google (you are one page 1 for a lot of things that I search for!) and I want to start blogging this fall as a way to document my studies in fashion photography.
Yet another blogger without a blog looking for wordpress themes for use on my blog if I ever get around to starting a blog.
I’m a cartoonist and aspiring game designer, hence my chosen name taken from the awesome Grim Fandango. I started reading Upstart Blogger a few years ago, got bored when it turned into one man’s crusade against everything that was wrong (or that he thought was wrong) with the music industry and now I’m hoping that UB can go back to being a cool blog again, a positive forward thinking blog, not something that is used as a weapon.
Negativity sucks, positivity rocks!
Hello, i found this site looking for a new wp theme. I am interested in Voluptua! but didnt see it on your theme page. I am wondering (since it seems like it had been a while since it was made) if it would work with wp 3.0, and if you could use widgets in the footer/sidebars. Thanks!
Voluptua is still here – http://www.upstartblogger.com/upstart-blogger-wordpress-theme-voluptua – but the demo for is no longer active as a result of Upstart Blogger changing hands recently.
Rest assured, there are plenty of new themes coming in the near future (the box of stuff we got when we moved in is full of nearly finished WordPress themes and other things that we will unleash in good time) including the fantastic and eagerly anticipated Voluptua 2.
You followed me on Twitter. I was checking your Tweets and the “who are you?” caught my eye so I clicked not knowing what I would find. Clever! :-D
I own Moving Links 4 You, (keep me in mind for Remarkably Easy Moves)…and have a blog on my own website.
I’m glad to meet you!! Oh, I’m @relomary and also I invite you to follow our Northern California film festival in Redding: @ReddingSundial
