  2. Julia September 4th, 2007 at 6:38 pm

Thanks for this theme, you are my hero! I think it will be perfect for my church’s website. I was already thinking about developing a theme myself, but you made the perfect theme for what I’m thinking for the website.

  3. Will September 4th, 2007 at 7:18 pm

Beautiful theme Robert! I am going to have to download it and look under the hood.

  4. Ante September 4th, 2007 at 9:08 pm

I did sign up for your RSS feed a long time ago, but can’t see the download link anywhere.

  5. sternz September 5th, 2007 at 6:36 am

Thanks for this theme. I am working on the last them you released currently, but think I will shift my attention to this one. Do you have any sort of way to donate to you for stuff like this?

  6. Upstart Blogger September 5th, 2007 at 7:10 am

Thanks for the comments. I’m glad you like the theme. I’m looking forward to seeing how people use it. Post a comment when you go live so I can have a look!

@Ante: the link is at the bottom of each post. I’ve added a little picture to show what it looks like.

@sternz: I’ve added a button to donate through PayPal. Thanks very much!

  7. sternz September 5th, 2007 at 7:36 am

Giving you some sort of donation is the least anyone could do. As soon as I get paid I will send something.

  8. Dana September 6th, 2007 at 3:20 am

Nice theme. A lot of content but plenty of white space. Great work!

  9. m September 6th, 2007 at 6:32 am

Thanks! I’ve been eagerly anticipating this theme’s release!

  10. Ante September 6th, 2007 at 6:39 am

You are the man, fastest “service” I’ve ever experienced.

  11. Upstart Blogger September 6th, 2007 at 8:12 am

Thanks for the comments. And please post a comment if you’re using this theme. I’d like to see how people are modifying it.

  12. Tim September 6th, 2007 at 9:54 am

I want to move the “sited” and “comments” to the top and flip-flop them so there’s a “Featured” and “other posts/news” sections. How can i make this move without upsetting the balance of the page? I tried to place it at the top once but the “comments” part moved itself down a line, like the “sited” section took up too much space.

Does this make sense? I’m pretty much trying to have a ESPN-like main section… thoughts?

With the “two-col” and “one-col” options, how could I insert a newspaper-style “Featured” article and preview with picture at the top of the page (similar to what you have at the bottom)?

  13. Upstart Blogger September 6th, 2007 at 10:06 am

I’m sorry, I simply don’t have time to answer all the general CSS questions. What you’re asking to do is not complicated, but it’s complicated to explain it. Basically, everything is floated left and each row is followed by a clear, like this:

    <div class="clear"></div>

You can modify the one-col, two-col, etc., as long as they add up to six columns. You’ll have to experiment.

@Everyone: please post support questions in the forums.

  14. Tim September 6th, 2007 at 10:18 am

thanks for the help… i’ll try that. any further questions i’ll put in the appropriate place.

  15. Upstart Blogger September 6th, 2007 at 10:21 am

@Tim: no problem. If you want to get rid of the latest posts, just delete that part of home.php and add another row of one-col, two-col, etc. before the clear div. Play with it and you should be able to get it to work. Good luck!

  16. Cal September 9th, 2007 at 7:59 pm

i really like this theme you using……

  18. Brad Mahaffey September 10th, 2007 at 10:41 am

  19. Arturs Mednis September 10th, 2007 at 2:18 pm

How to let be shown picture of any post in first page?

  20. Upstart Blogger September 10th, 2007 at 2:22 pm

    Please watch the video tutorial.

  21. sternz September 12th, 2007 at 8:44 am

The video really helps so I advise people to watch it as Upstart said at the top of the post. Amazing what happens to simple questions if your RTFM.

  22. sternz September 12th, 2007 at 9:58 am

Don’t you love people who don’t read directions? Is it honestly that hard to watch a video to answer your own questions.

  23. Milos September 12th, 2007 at 10:32 am

This is the best theme I have seen so far. Keep up the good work!

  24. Upstart Blogger September 12th, 2007 at 3:53 pm

Thanks for the comments. And yes, the video is a “must see.”

  25. Cal September 12th, 2007 at 9:55 pm

    Yes…… it’s really helpful.

  26. Blogs' Magic September 13th, 2007 at 4:55 am

I loved the clean ness of this theme.

I hope there are no bugs..!

  27. Tiziano September 13th, 2007 at 11:57 pm

    Hi Robert,
your Futurosity Altera is the better template I’ve ever seen. Easy to use and perfect in coding.
Days ago I have seen this other template, called MIMBO by Darren Hoyt. He’s using pretty similar coding with differences in usability. Your theme is faster to install and manage.

Have a nice day and thank you so much.

  28. tripwood September 14th, 2007 at 3:17 pm

    Thanks! Thanks and again thanks!!
Great Job! This is the theme that i was searching for… i love it. I will sure recharge my paypal card for donation.

I’ve made some modifies in the layout of home page and in some code around.
I’ve alse added a custom tag “real-author” for assign to a post an author different from who posted…
and i’ve traslating all in italian.
I’m still working on it for some things.
The most important : i want to have comments on static pages also… can i do something for activating it without changing “page.php” ?
    thanks again for your job.
    Ciao ;)

  29. tripwood September 14th, 2007 at 3:27 pm

i forgot the link to my site : http://www.liberatutti-vetralla.it/

  31. Upstart Blogger September 14th, 2007 at 6:00 pm

@tripwood:Your site looks great. Nice use of the theme. I’ve sent you $6.95 via PayPal.

  32. tripwood September 15th, 2007 at 5:01 am

I wanted to send you a donation and instead you send it to me… :) :)

    ps
i resolved with the comments on static page (with only a custom tag “comments”… it was well explained in the code of “page.php” :P).

  33. Upstart Blogger September 15th, 2007 at 7:03 am

@tripwood: You’re welcome! You were the first to post a link to your Altera-themed site. It’s fun for me to see my themes in use. Your site is looking great.

  34. Tiziano September 15th, 2007 at 8:26 am

    Robert,
my use of Futurosity is not so good as tripwood’s one but this is my link: http://www.apotropaico.it

I have added nothing more than a Flickr RSS and Imeem music player on the homepage and a contact form page.

(Hey, I do not want money! :) )

Thanks again for your fantastic theme.

  35. Upstart Blogger September 15th, 2007 at 8:59 am

@Tiziano: Your site looks great! I like the Flickr feed and music player. Nice job.

  36. tripwood September 15th, 2007 at 9:37 am

It seems that you have great success here in Italy! :)

    ps
i will give your money to Emergency (www.emergency.it)

  37. Upstart Blogger September 15th, 2007 at 10:21 am

@tripwood: I’m a fan of Italian design so I’m pleased that my themes are popular in Italy!

Inspired by your generosity, I’ve just matched your contribution by sending Emergency another $6.95.

Hello there. I would like to congratulate you for creating this theme. I must say this is by far one of the best magazine styled theme that I have come across in a really long time. I have just started using it as my default theme. Although there is not much on my site to see, do take a look.

    Regards,
    Aditya

  42. Upstart Blogger September 18th, 2007 at 3:20 pm

@pablo: I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what you’re asking. And please post support questions in the forums. Thanks.

  43. tripwood September 19th, 2007 at 3:09 am

    Ciao Robert,
i’ve update my site with a new look..
i’ve modified your theme with dinamic resize and with integration of other plugins that i like very much (like show-unread-comments, very nice).
Thanks again for making me discover the wordpress layout modding.
    ciao!

  44. kaiser September 19th, 2007 at 5:30 am

  45. forrestRain September 19th, 2007 at 9:25 am

    showing know-how in video!!

    This is amazing.

  46. kaiser September 25th, 2007 at 10:04 am

since i´m now playing around with your theme some days, i got some questions too. what are the ‘four04′ and ‘ec3′ css-classes? btw: i made a validate-css check and found some problems…

  47. kaiser September 26th, 2007 at 6:43 am

    oh, forgot that i activated events-plugin … that´s the ec3 feat. the validate-probs.

  48. john October 2nd, 2007 at 4:18 am

    Hi robert.

just wanted to say thank you for your template.
we have put it too good work on our site and it has opened up so many new possibilities for how we present our work and made wordpress far more useful to us.

    thanks again.

a donation to your ‘rainy day fund’ should be winging it’s way to you through the ether.

  49. Upstart Blogger October 2nd, 2007 at 7:46 am

@john: Thanks very much for your generous donation!

Your site looks great. I love what you’ve done to the layout and your choice of colors. In fact, I like it better than the original. And you’ve got some great stuff on your site. I’m really enjoying damien jurado. Bookmarked!

  50. Molli Fire October 8th, 2007 at 11:15 pm

    Hi there –

I came across your site almost by accident. I am developing my own site to be more magazine-styled and am coding the theme myself. But, being a HUGE fan of all things robotic, I fell in LOVE with your rss robot!! I was wondering if I could use just the robot (I would download and save it to my own server) rather than the whole theme and what you would want in return? My site is not a money-maker yet, I just started it this year, so it is not huge either. But the rss robot would fit in so well and be so appreciated by me and my readers every time we see it. In return I could credit you, link to you, paypal you. Anything within reason. Please feel free to check it out:
    http://www.musicnewsculture.com

    Thanks!
    Molli

  51. Upstart Blogger October 9th, 2007 at 6:14 am

You’re free to use the RSS icon. I wish I could take credit for it, but I didn’t design it. I found it on the web and would give credit where it’s due, but I can’t remember where I picked it up. I do know that the creator gave permission to use it. If anyone knows who the original designer was, please let me know so I can link to him.
