WordPress Theme: Upstart Blogger Modicus

Robert EllisWordPress316 Comments

I’m releasing another WordPress theme, Upstart Blogger Modicus. In keeping with my other WordPress themes, this theme is designed to be:

  1. Minimalist: Very clean, spacious and easy to read.
  2. Fast: Lightweight, for speed.
  3. Ad-friendly: The columns are sized specifically to accept standard ad formats.
  4. Easy to install: You can install without plugins, though five plugins are recommended and included.
  5. Flexible: Includes an optional home page.

Modicus is now WordPress 2.3-ready. I’ve added the code to display tags on individual posts and a tag cloud in the sidebar.

Important Note! Modicus now comes in two flavors: the original 3-column version and a new 2-column version. The new 2-column version adds an Options tab to your WordPress admin, where you can set column arrangement and alignment, etc.

I know, I know. This should be one theme. But this is the first time I’ve created a theme with Options and I don’t have the time right now to figure it all out. Everything should work fine, but putting it all together was just a little beyond my current patience and skills. I may combine these into one snazzy theme with Options at some time in the future, so please subscribe so I can notify you of updates. Also, a special thanks to Christine of infinitepink for the inspiration.

Here’s a preview (click to enlarge):

You can also view the demo. Or, see my other blog, Mystics of the Ordinary, for another example of the theme in use.

Here’s a demo of the 2-column version.

And here’s the optional home page (no enlargement):

Be sure to subscribe to Upstart Blogger to be notified of updates!

Instructions

Note: Instructions for the 2-column version are similar, but Modicus 2-Column also includes an extra Options & Help tab to the Presentation tab. Be sure to read the instructiions in the tab.

  1. Open the UpstartBloggerModicus folder, then upload the ub_modicus folder to your WordPress theme folder.
  2. Open the plugins folder inside the UpstartBloggerModicus folder. Open the contents to your WordPress plugins folder. Read the readme files for each plugin for installation instructions.
  3. To select the theme, go to the Presentations tab of your WordPress admin and select Upstart Blogger Modicus.
  4. Click on the Widgets tab to arrange your widgets. You may also want to edit sidebar.php. To find more widgets, check out Plugins/WordPress Widgets.

Plugins

Four plugins are recommended and are included. Here are the links, if you want to check that you have the latest versions:

Five plugins are recommended and are included. Here are the links, if you want to check that you have the latest versions:

  • the_excerpt Reloaded
  • bdp-comments
  • Popularity Contest
  • Random Posts
  • Related Posts

Notes

  1. The home page is optional. If you want to use it, just rename _home.php to home.php. You’ll also need to edit it to put in the names of the categories to display. See the comment in the file.
  2. To use your own image for the logo, create an image 100×100 pixels, name it m.jpg, and drop it in the images folder inside the Modicus theme folder.

Upgrading to 0.3 for WordPress 2.3

There are no changes to the style.css files in this update, so if you haven’t altered the template files you can just keep your old style sheet and copy over your old template files. If you’ve modified your template files, there’s no need to copy the new files. Just add the new WordPress 2.3 tags yourself. It’s easy to do. See the Codex on the_tags and wp_tag_cloud.

License

This WordPress theme is released under the Creative Commons Attribution v3.0, meaning you can do pretty much whatever you want with it, but you should (please) keep the link back to Upstart Blogger, either in the sidebar or the footer. See the README for details.

History

0.1 First released 06.19.07.
0.2 06.26.07

  1. The logo is no longer cheated left of the post column. I did that to align it with the “M” in the logo, but since I noticed that IE6 just chops it off and you’ll probably change this image with something else anyway, I decided it didn’t make sense to give it a negative left margin. Instead, if you want to indent the left column, you’ll need to edit style.css manually and give either the post or sidebar selector (depending on which column you’ve arranged on the left) a left margin.
  2. Removed extraneous text from comments message.
  3. Fixed missing div tags that were causing layout problems.
  4. Removed “Elsewhere” heading over the Blogroll. It’s now headed the default “Blogroll”. You can change this by changing the name of the Blogroll category (Manage > Categories) in your WP Admin.
  5. A little miscellaneous cleaning of the code. (I still have more to do on this).

0.3 Both versions updated on 10.08.07. This is a minor update. Tags have been added to individual posts and a tag cloud added to the sidebar.

  1. Stephanie added these pithy words on 19 Jun 07

    I have a quick question about this theme: Why is it that I can’t seem to get images to show up, unless you click on the blog post itself? Is there a workaround for this, or am I just a really dumb newbie? Cheers~

  2. Robert Ellis added these pithy words on 19 Jun 07

    Stephanie, if you want images to show up on the index page, you’ll have to do one of three things: actually put something with an img tag in the Optional Excerpt field for the post, display the full post instead of the excerpt, or change the tag to use the_excerpt_reloaded plugin.

    To display the full post instead of the excerpt, open index.php and find this:

    < ?php the_excerpt(); ?>

    And change it to this (to display the whole post):

    < ?php the_content(); ?>

    See the WordPress Codex for more info. You can also look at the instructions for the_excerpt_reloaded plugin if you want to use that instead.

  3. Stephanie added these pithy words on 19 Jun 07

    Woooooah, thanks for the speedy reply- and fix. You rock! (PS: Thanks also for the rad theme, it’s definitely my favourite out of everything I’ve seen/downloaded.)

    Dear Mr. Ellis,
    I have fallen head over heels in geeky-love with Modicus. I’ve attempted to modify it into a 2 column theme a few times, but I’m definitely a better artist than a web designer. :)

    Is there any chance that you will be making and releasing a 2 column version of Modicus in the future? Is there any way I could encourage you to do this?! (I make some beautiful artisan jewelry… I’d be happy to send you some in exchange for a 2 col. version!)

    Whatcha say?

    In any case, thanks for the coded beauty and inspiration,

    Christine

  6. Robert Ellis added these pithy words on 21 Jun 07

    Thanks very much for the positive feedback!

    Christine, I had no plans for a two-column version, but I’d be happy to put one together for you. And, while I love your jewelry—and your digital artwork, paintings, and Flickr photos—I’ll do it for you gratis. I’m tickled that someone with your talent would take to my theme. What would you like?

  7. Rhett added these pithy words on 21 Jun 07

    This is a really beautiful design. I look at the new themes every day and I have never been so tempted to actually change. Really. Great job.

  8. Robert Ellis added these pithy words on 21 Jun 07

    Thanks very much, Rhett.

    BTW, took a look at your site. Good stuff. I’d recommend your post, The Blog Invasion, to any blogging noob (and grab the PDF file).

  9. christine added these pithy words on 21 Jun 07

    Robert! :)

    I can’t tell you how tickled *I* am that you are offering to do this.

    This is so wonderful, generous and unexpected, I’m just going to babble like a giddy 6-year-old talking to Santa!

    I would like:

    Basic:

    ~ A format of the same width as the original Modicus theme.

    ~ An entry/post area that is 500 to 550 pixels wide.

    ~ A widgetized right sidebar that is 250 or so. (Or whatever would work with the remaining space in the format with padding, etc. considered.)

    ~ Keep the option to post full entries instead of excerpts.

    ~ I *LOVE* the option of a home/splash page and I can’t wait to use it. Please keep that in the design!

    Extras that would be awesome:

    ~ A comment link at the bottom of each entry for my chatty guests.

    ~ My current theme (which is Simply Basic by Ash Haque) has separate .php files called “post-sidebar” and “page-sidebar” — this allows me to customize the sidebars on individual pages. For instance, right now all of my single pages and post pages simply have a randomized quote on each one. I really like this feature and would love to be able to keep it, if possible. Could you do this with Modicus?

    I think that’s all. Yes, that’s it. That’s my wish. (This is just way too cool!) I promise to tweak my new theme gently and link back to you, of course.

    If there’s anything that I need to clarify, please let me know.

    A million thank yous to you, dear Robert.

    – Christine

  10. Robert Ellis added these pithy words on 21 Jun 07

    christine, your wish will be granted! It may take a few days and I may have some questions for you (I’ll email you directly), but it shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll be in touch soon and I’ll also make it available for anyone else who might be interested.

  11. Pamela added these pithy words on 21 Jun 07

    Love, love, love this theme! I just a love a designer not afraid of white space.

    I made a slight modification in color and finally figured out how to not have the extended post all in bold red type - I split the post - however, I have lost the little […] on the front page.

    Am I not holding my head right, or have I messed up by splitting the post with the “more” tag?

    Thank you for sharing this beautiful theme.

  12. Robert Ellis added these pithy words on 21 Jun 07

    Thanks, Pamela!

    Your mod looks great. The bold type is supposed to be only for the first paragraph of your post. So, if your post is only one paragraph long, the entire post will be bold. I use this almost like a pull quote. You don’t need to use the “more” tag (unless you want to). If you do use it, you will lose the […], which is inserted by the excerpt tag in index.php.

    BTW, if you want to turn off the bold first paragraph, just edit style.css. Find all the selectors that include p:first-child and delete them.

    Hope that helps!

  13. Pamela added these pithy words on 21 Jun 07

    Robert

    Thanks - that was the ticket - works like a charm now!

    I feel like I can breathe again without all the colour and clever banners in the way.

  15. Jake added these pithy words on 22 Jun 07

    Thank you for designing such a splendid theme! This is my first blog (so there’s nothing much there, yet) and your design just leapt off the screen.

    In IE (6 and 7) the index and archive pages have a funny layout glitch - the main div (with the posts) overlaps the first sidebar. Can you point me to which page to bash at, or provide any suggestions?

    Thanks much!

  16. Robert Ellis added these pithy words on 22 Jun 07

    Jake, thanks for bringing this to my attention. The files are missing a

    tag.

    Until I fix this for release, you can fix it yourself by opening the files and adding

    right above

    Add a closing right above

    That should fix it. I’m working on some other changes to the theme and should post an update sometime next week.

    Thanks again!

    Michele

  22. Robert Ellis added these pithy words on 28 Jun 07

    Michele, if you want links in the excerpts (I assume that’s what you’re talking about), you’ll need to edit the settings for the_excerpt_reloaded plugin or display full posts.

    To display the full post instead of the excerpt, open index.php and find this:
    < ?php the_excerpt(); ?>

    And change it to this (to display the whole post):
    < ?php the_content(); ?>

    See the WordPress Codex for more info. You can also look at the instructions for the_excerpt_reloaded plugin if you want to use that instead.

    Hey - love the theme - just installed on my new blog I am starting. Also using Rob Miller’s Now Reading - all seems ok until you go to the library and then it throws the theme out. Any ideas before I hassle Rob?

  27. Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 01 Jul 07

    theSupermarket, the pink text is in the .entry p:first-child selector. Just open up style.css and change it to whatever you want, or delete that selector and the first paragraph will match the rest of the post.

  28. Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 01 Jul 07

    Niall, I’m not sure how you have your blog set up, but it looks like your library posts are not reading the right theme template, which should be single.php. It’s not a problem with the plugin, but I can’t tell what’s going on without having access to your site.

    Question — I’ve been searching and searching through the stylesheet, but can’t find where list-style-type is specified as none for unordered and ordered lists in the .entry/.post class. Suggestions?

  31. Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 02 Jul 07

    Nathan, the lists are set to list-style:none; at the top of style.php in the Normalize group, which resets all of the selectors to defaults before styling them in the rest of the file, a tip I picked up from Transcending CSS. If you want to style them, you should add a selector elsewhere in the file.

    Upstart Blogger, your designs are fantastic, I’m particularly pleased with Modicus, and have been looking to use it for a website I’m designing for a friend. However, I have recently hit a problem with the customization process. I wonder if you know, what might be the easiest way to integrate a shelf into the theme’s header? I’d like to have a Shelf link logo aligned with the header image, with the shelf then appearing below the logo, and before the main body text. But I’m having a lot of issues. Can you help me? Thank you

  33. Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 02 Jul 07

    Thanks, 137. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about shelves. Is there a script you’re trying to work with? What have you done so far? If you have a sandbox that you’re experimenting in, I’d be willing to take a look. But unfortunately I can’t offer support for other scripts and plugs.

    I like minimal thing, but your blog template is toooo minimal :-) Maybe that was your goal. You’ve reached it then :-)

  35. Netta added these pithy words on 09 Jul 07

    Hello there! Just wanted to thank you for the great theme. I’m putting together a website for a client, and I pointed this theme out to him and he absolutely fell in love with it (just as I did!)

    We’re using the 2 column version (www.brandnotbland.com) and I was wondering if there’s a problem with everyone’s sidebar overlapping the content area, or just us? Can you help please? Thanks!

  36. Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 09 Jul 07

    Netta, I have seen this problem before. Two things to check:

    1) If you’ve modified any of the template files, make sure there are no extra lines at the tops or bottoms of the files.

    2) Check that you’ve uploaded only the ub_modicus2c folder to your themes folder. It’s inside the UpstartBloggerModicus2c folder.

    If neither of these is the problem, I’d be happy to take a quick look if you send me your login info. I’m sending you a separate email.

  37. Netta added these pithy words on 09 Jul 07

    Ah ha! I uploaded the entire folder instead of just the ub_modicus2c folder. Thanks a ton for the super speedy response, and the support!

  38. Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 09 Jul 07

    No problem. I have done that before myself.

  39. Netta added these pithy words on 09 Jul 07

    woops… I’m modifying the sidebar now, he wants different links in a list format for all the different pages, but I’m having trouble making it an actual list! i’ve tried the tag, tried separating it with tags… all with no luck. any suggestions?

  40. Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 09 Jul 07

    Open style.css and delete these lines:

    ol,ul {
    list-style: none;
    }

    That should do it. Or, add a line like this:

    #sidebar ol {
    list-style-type: decimal;
    }

    or whatever style you want.

  41. Netta added these pithy words on 09 Jul 07

    hhmmm… i tried both and neither are seeming to work for me… ?

  42. Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 09 Jul 07

    I’m not seeing any lists in your sidebar. Are you using widgets? You’ll have to describe the problem in more detail.

  43. Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 09 Jul 07

    Ah, wait. I see the problem. Your list of links in not enclosed in list tags. You need to add something like this:

    • link
    • link
    • …etc…

      The problem you’re experiencing is because of your markup and has nothing to do with the theme. So be careful if you’ve already edited style.css

    • Netta added these pithy words on 09 Jul 07

      Argh! My FTP wasn’t overwriting the files like I specified it to… I restarted the FTP program and all’s well now. Really… I can’t thank you enough for such great support!

      Nice theme. I love these 3 sweet columns!

      But is there any chance to make a footer for The Upstart Blogger Modicus like “FOOTSIE” below on this page?

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 13 Jul 07

      reazOne, Modicus already comes with a footer.php file, but there’s nothing visible in it. Unfortunately, positioning it in the layout is a little tricky. If I ever get around to making a new version, I’ll try to add an optional footer.

      mikel, just add the author tag wherever you want the author info to appear:

      < ?php the_author(); ?>

      You’ll find the post info for each entry in single.php or in sidebar2.php, if you’re using the 2-column version.

      Anyone?

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 27 Jul 07

      Guillermo, you shouldn’t be having this problem, but it most likely has something to do with this tag in your header.php file:

      < ?php language_attributes(); ?>

      Check to see that you’re running the latest version of WordPress.

    • janne added these pithy words on 01 Aug 07

      Hi,
      I really appreciate your theme. Finally one that stands out by it’s minimalistic and usable appearance.

      One issue though:
      I can’t get flv’s to play.
      Here’s the plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/vipers-video-quicktags/
      It worked before I installed your theme. Is there any code I need t tweak?

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 02 Aug 07

      Janne, I’m not familiar with the plugin and the author’s site is down. But it’s unlikely that the theme would be the problem. If the instructions for the plugin don’t include modifying any template files, it should work. The plugin author would probably be more helpful that I can be.

      Good luck!

      Hi there. I’ve just started using and playing around with your modicus theme. Loving it a lot, it really stands out. Also, I really dig all your other themes, especially the most recent sandbox one you’ve done. All of them are great typographically based designs, and there ain’t a Lucida font in sight.

      Dan, thanks for your comments. Glad you like the themes.

      APM, I can’t think of an easy way to do what you want. It might be possible, but I’m not sure how to do it. If I think of a way, I’ll post it, but I vaguely remember trying this before and coming up empty. Sorry.

      Hi, this is a wonderful theme! I’m just wondering how to get images in posts to display on the front page. What would I have to edit and how would I do it?

      If you know what I’m saying is that I have an image at the start of a post, but it only displays when you go to that post’s actual page. If you could email me, that would be great.

      Thanks, Ed

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 14 Aug 07

      Thanks, Ed. I’ve answered this question above. See Jun 19 07 at 3:10 pm.

      Thanks,
      Ed

      Ed, the answer to your question is above, in the same comment.

    • Ed added these pithy words on 14 Aug 07

      I’m sorry, I know I’m a complete dummy, but I’ve read the post but don’t understand what “put something with an img tag in the Optional Excerpt field for the post” means. Apologies for this.

      Thanks,
      ED

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 14 Aug 07

      Ahhh, that’s a different question :) No problem.

      When you create a post in WordPress, if you look below where you write the post, you’ll see a field called Optional Excerpt (you may need to click on the + symbol next to the “Optional Excerpt” label to display it). Then add the text you want to display on the home page, along with the image link (img tag), which will look something like this:

      [title of image]

    • Ed added these pithy words on 14 Aug 07

      Here I go again! Really Sorry. How will I create a More link while using the Optional Excerpt box as it doesn’t seem to work.

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 14 Aug 07

      If you use the optional excerpt, you won’t have a more tag. You can add More… to the end of the excerpt and people will know to click the post title, or you’ll have to hard code the the_permalink tag in the template file.

    • Ed added these pithy words on 14 Aug 07

      Yeah, I won’t be doing that unless I know how to.

      Thanks for your patience and great help,

      How would I change the size of the post titles on the front page?

      Tks–Dave

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 15 Aug 07

      You’ll have to edit the style.css file. I think the selector you’re looking for is ul.archive li, but you’ll have to double check.

    • Dave added these pithy words on 15 Aug 07

      I apologize greatly, as I now know you are busy but I editing it and nothing is happening. It is definitely the archive class, but what should I edit inside of it. Could you give me “ul.archive li{display: block; padding: 0 0 1em;}”

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 15 Aug 07

      No problem. If that is the right tag, just add something like font-size: 24px;, or whatever size you want. So the selector would look like this:

      ul.archive li {display:block; padding: 0 0 1em; font-size: 24px;}

    • Dave added these pithy words on 15 Aug 07

      Oh no! That changes the size of the whole post. What should I do? Is there anything?

      Tks — Dave

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 15 Aug 07

      Ok, try this:

      Add a new selector like this:

      ul.archive li p {font-size: 1em;}

      You may have to play with the font-size in both selectors to get what you want.

      First of all, I LOVE the modicus theme. But I’m curious about why hyperlinks only work in the actual post, not also from the exerpt in the main list? It seems very strange to view the exerpt but not see hyperlinks until you click on the title link.

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 17 Aug 07

      Thanks, Amy. The reason hyperlinks don’t work in the main list is that it uses excerpts instead of displaying the full post. WordPress doesn’t display hyperlinks in excerpts. You can change this if you want. See Jun 28 07 at 7:03 am above.

I thought that maybe editing the sidebar.php file would do the trick but doing this just showed an error. Could someone please tell me what to do? Thanks!

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 19 Aug 07

      @wytstaat: If you’re using the regular version of Modicus, just open index.php, find the “blurb” text, and replace it with your own.

      If you’re using the 2-column version, then the text is in sidebar.php. Again, open the file in a text editor, find the actual “blurb” text, and replace it with your own.

      In either case, keep the

      and tags that enclose the “blurb” text.

      Cheers for a really cool theme. Spent most of the evening to get my site back online and tweaking the Modicus theme:). Took me weeks to find a template that I really liked and could tweak to reflect my own style:D

      I only have one question. I’m pretty new to the whole CSS world (learning everyday) but I’m really battling to get the footer to show up at the base of the site. I’d like to replicate the graphic element at the bottom of my site.

      Also some of the links/icons don’t seem to show up, any ideas?

      Thanks again for a great theme.

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 20 Aug 07

      @Cerven: Thanks for your comments.

      Adding a footer isn’t that complicated, but telling you how to do it is. Here’s the easiest way to do it: Add the code you want in the footer to footer.php (you can cut or copy from your header or sidebar). Then find a theme that has a footer and cut and paste the CSS for the footer into style.css for Modicus. Then experiment until it works.

      I looked at your site. The only thing missing are the recent comments. If the plugin is turned on, you should see them listed. Otherwise, I’m not sure what you mean by missing icons/links.

      IE6 and IE7 really don’t like the .post p:first-child and also won’t accept me commenting out the blockquote first paragraph. The comments also show up larger and bolder in IE7, not in Firefox. Any suggestions?

      Also, how to change it so that numbered and ordered lists show up bulleted and numbered in posts?

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 23 Aug 07

      @hollismb: I’m not sure what you mean. IE6 won’t recognize first-child at all, so the text just displays normally. It works fine in IE7. As far as the comments in IE, the fonts are sized in ems and different browsers size fonts differently. You could try editing div.bubble cite in style.css.

      The lists are reset at the top of style.css with this tag:

      ol,ul {list-style: none;}

      You can delete that or just add your own ul and ol styles.

    • hollismb added these pithy words on 23 Aug 07

      Okay, the font sizing makes sense. I just took it out, because when I commented out the blockquote specific portion, the text still rendered larger anyway.

      If I take out the ul,ol styling, the lists show up with bullets in the sidebar, but not in the posts. I’ve currently got it commented out as an example here: http://hollismb.net/?p=722#more-722

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 23 Aug 07

      Hmmm. Okay, put the ul, ol styling back in. Then add something like this:

      .post ol {list-style-type:decimal;}

    • hollismb added these pithy words on 23 Aug 07

      I appreciate the suggestion, but that didn’t work either. It’s really quite odd, actually, because I don’t really see any other list-styling anywhere else in the CSS. Even if you keep the ol,ul stuff commented out, and add that line, it still doesn’t show numbers/bullets. I’m wondering if maybe there’s an open div tag somewhere? I haven’t made any changes to your theme other than what I’ve mentioned.

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 23 Aug 07

      Okay, sorry for the confusion. You also have to reset the display property. Try this:

      .entry ol {display:list-item;list-style-type: decimal;}

      have you ever thought of adding a more advanced page navigation feature somewhere towards the bottom of the page? i was trying to use WP-PageNavi 2.11 (http://lesterchan.net/wordpress/readme/wp-pagenavi.html) but the navigation appears at the top of the page (rather than the bottom). is it at all possible to edit the theme so that there is something more detailed than “Previous Entires” or perhaps implement WP-PageNavi 2.11 but placing the code some where else other than the footer file?

    • Upstart Blogger added these pithy words on 29 Aug 07

      Actually, I try to minimize my use of plugins. I don’t know anything about WP-PageNavi, but you should be able to add the tag for the plugin to any template file. You could try putting it in single.php to see if that does what you want.

But as the content area (the header and the three columns) are “transparent”, the faded background image is seen behind the posts and menu. I want a simple white color as a background for the content, 916px wide. Can’t I add a (div style=”background-color:#FFF;”) around all content div’s? Like a big white paper lying on the faded background? Heh?

      @GoranG: The problem is that the divs inside the wrapper are floated. You’ll need to add a hack to get around this. This should help:

      @mikel: The problem is not applesearch.js. It’s the_excerpt Reloaded plugin.

      I should have a conditional statement in search.php so you don’t get this error. If you install and activate this plug you should be fine. Or, you can replace this code in search.php:

      < ?php the_excerpt_reloaded(15, '', 'excerpt', FALSE, '[more]', FALSE, 1, TRUE); ?>

      with this:

      < ?php if ( function_exists('the_excerpt_reloaded')) :?>
      < ?php the_excerpt_reloaded(15, '', 'excerpt', FALSE, '[more]', FALSE, 1, TRUE); ?>
      < ?php else: ?>
      < ?php the_excerpt();
