This is the ugly duckling of my WordPress themes, designed to be simple, clean, fast, and easy to read. It has two columns, sized specifically to accept standard ad formats. It’s widget ready, but there are no included plugins to complicate things. It’s a good starting point for modifications. If you’re looking for something more stylish, check out one of my other themes.

Note: This theme has not been updated to work with WordPress 2.3 and is no longer being supported.

Instructions

1. Upload the ub_purus folder to your WordPress themes folder.
2. If you don’t already have the WordPress Widgets plugin, go get it and follow the instructions to install it.
3. To select the theme, go to the Presentations tab of your WordPress admin and select Upstart Blogger Purus.
4. If you have the WordPress Widgets plugin installed and activated, a new tab, Sidebar Widgets, will appear. Click on the tab to arrange your widgets. To find more widgets, check out Plugins/WordPress Widgets.
5. Replace the /images/ub.png image with your own.

This WordPress theme is released under the Creative Commons Attribution v3.0, meaning you can do pretty much whatever you want with it, but you should (please) keep the link back to Upstart Blogger, either in the sidebar or the footer (somewhere where it will appear on every page of your blog).
