Confused? Me too. WPDesigner went on the market a little while ago with a price tag of around $65,000. It sold, according to a reliable sourceQ, for less than half that amount. The new owner, Pawel Ciszewski, has done apparently nothing with it apart from write a quick introductory post.
I’ve written about this situation before, since it was of particular interest to me given my recent purchase of Upstart Blogger. I even offered to fund the purchase of WPDesigner.com if someone came forward with a solid business plan.
Today I received an email from someone calling himself a blog agent who had been instructed to sell WPDesigner.com on behalf of it’s new owner for $10,000.
I’m skeptical. And if you’ve had the same email, you should be also.
Either WPDesigner.com is so damaged as a brand that its price is in free-fall or this is a straight forward scam.
The brand is damaged, and will be further damaged as time goes by with no sign of action from its new owner, but something about this email doesn’t ring true. I’ve forwaded the email to Pawel Ciszewski to try and get some clarification but, around seven hours later, I don’t have a reply. Perhaps the so called blog agent has already figured out that the current owner doesn’t respond to emails nor comments and felt this unresponsiveness would offer enough cover to conduct the scam.
If it’s a scam then the scammer has a pretty good smokescreen all the time Pawel Ciszewski doesn’t respond.
If it’s not a scam, and is a genuine sale then it’s a bargain and someone should grab it before the brand gets damaged beyond repair.
Let’s be clear though. This really does look like a scam. If you get this email don’t part with the money before you are sure it’s a genuine sale. And, if it is a genuine sale then my previous offer still stands.

Yeah, this WPD thing is strange. From the way Small Potato sold it suddenly, the way Pawel bought and then posted such an odd (and badly worded) introductory post, and now this email?
I tend to listen to my intuition, and it’s telling me to beware;)
On the other hand, boy would it be nice to be able to purchase WPD and help it realize it’s full potential!
Holy moly! How can that be true? I’d think it to be a scam personally, a businessman like Mr. Ciszewski probably wouldn’t want to lose so much money.
(By the way, “skeptical” should be “sceptical”. Does Safari have a spell-checker plug-in thing available?)
@ Joshua,
Both spellings are acceptable, depends on your country;)
Hi, any updates on this?
In a couple of days it’ll be _A MONTH_ since the last post!
